Morning at the Zoo with only TWO!

Kai Kai, Eddie and I met some friends at the zoo this morning. We all had a great time and I have to say, if you're gonna go to the zoo, 9:00am is the BEST time to go! We got to see so many of the animals doing things we don't usually see. Like this Lion trying to "attack" the keeper cleaning the window:

Or the baby giraffe out walking in it's casts:

There was also a momma and baby bat hanging together. The funniest thing was that the momma looked like it was burping the baby! So cute!

And then there was the new baby hippo with it's momma! How cute is that!! (Pic by Danna)
Although I didn't get any pictures, we also got to see the keeper working with the elephant on lifting balls and logs with it's trunk! It was so much fun!

Here are a few more pics from our day at the zoo!
The kids...
well at least those that could walk!
We also had 3 babies sitting in their strollers who are not pictured.

Kai Kai liked the Gorilla. The irony is that the Gorilla had a book that was ripped up. The title? DEMOLISH! Hahahahaha!!! Well, it was funny at the time.

Ahhh! True Love! Ains and Ike, the perfect couple!

And here was the poor flamingo that the kids were trying to annoy.
Nice weather, fun day and good friends! A perfect morning! Thanks Clara and Danna!

Cori's First Day of Preschool

Tuesday was Cori's first day of preschool. He goes to the same school as the other kids, but is a peer model in the deaf and hearing impaired preschool. Emmy went to the same preschool when she was 4 and really loved it. I think it's a lot of fun because the kids get to learn sign language and so do I. We're really lucky that the other peer model in the class is a girl from Cori's class at church. Of course, the best thing about the preschool is that it's 1/2 day 5 days a week...and FREE!! Can't beat that!

Big Changes, Little Changes

So we've had a few big and little changes in our house. One big change is that Emmy now has both her jaw expanders in. It took a little over an hour and even a little pain to get them put in, but she was so brave and didn't even complain.                                  Here's the top one.
And here's the bottom one.

Another kind of big change was the addition of two family members. Meet Hershey and Kit Kat, our guinea pigs. They were given to us by my brother and his wife. The piggers made the trip clear from Utah, courtesy of my sister Jordan and her family, to our house and we are enjoying them so much. Thanks Megan and Allen! I know you miss them, but we'll take good care of them.

The next change is kind of small. Sterling and I got haircuts! He's such a handsome boy! And I...well, I have short hair! :-)
The final little change is Kai Kai's pedicure and manicure that she got tonight. So cute!

"I like getting my toes painted!"

See my pretty toes?!

Ok, so the fingernails aren't so hot, but she wouldn't hold still and kept touching her fingernails after I put the nail polish on. She thought it was pretty funny though!

First Day of School 2010!

I'm so excited that the kiddos started school today. I have been anticipating this day since they got out of school for the summer! We had a good summer, but I'm glad that they'll have the structure of school. The kids all got wonderful teachers this year and we can't wait to work with them this year. It seems like the kids are growing up so fast and I can't believe that I have 3 kids in school already. And next year, I'll have 4! It's so fun to see them learn and grow and yet I wish I could keep them little forever...or at least a little bit longer. We are so lucky to have them though! Here are some pics from this morning:
Sterling is getting so big! I can't believe that he's in 4th grade now!

Emmy is such a beautiful girl and is growing up so fast! Already in 2nd grade!

And my Joe- I can't believe that he's already in Kindergarten. Where does the time go?

I actually got a call from Joe's teacher this afternoon. She left a message on my cell phone and when I first heard it I thought, "The first day of school and I'm already getting a call!!" Luckily it turned out to be only good! She told me how wonderful Joe was and how good and quiet he was in class, etc, etc. It was a very nice surprise to get a positive message! Emmy is really excited for this year. She keeps telling us about how they have like 4 different ways to earn rewards in class. And Sterling likes his teacher, his class and the fact that he's upstairs this year. He's also excited for all the cool stuff that 4th graders get to do, like a 5 day (not overnight) field trip to "Star Base" (don't know what that is). Cori doesn't start school until next week, so I'll enjoy my last week with him at home! It's going to be a good year!!!

The kiddos who get to go to school this year! SO CUTE!!

And here are the two who get to stay home with Mommy!
My sweet Kai Kai

And my happy Eddie!

A Fun Family Home Evening Dinner!

The Story:
It started with a trip to Dillons. Each child was allowed up to $2 to pick out something for dinner. The only requirement is that it has to feed all the members of our family. Other than that, everything is fair game. Obviously this was not going to be a healthy dinner, but it's not supposed to be. It's just fun! So we went up and down the aisles looking for something that each kiddo wanted.

Our Ingredients:
Marshmallow Cereal, Lemon Streusel Muffins, Cookies, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, Chocolate Chip Waffles and Ice Cream Sandwhiches

The Dinner:

The plates all ready! Looks so good!

The kids loved the meal and ate as much as they could. How often does a kid get the chance to enjoy a spread like this!?

Kailyn loved her food and ate her Peanut Butter Cup first but wasn't too sure about the ice cream sandwich!

Here they are stuffing their faces!
YUMMY!!!!

And that was dinner on Monday night for FHE! Hope they enjoyed it cause it won't happen again...for awhile anyway!

Life in Pictures

See, Eddie HAS to share his toys with Kailyn....even when he's using them!

By lunch time, she is sooo ready for a nap. Poor girl!

Cori reading to Kai Kai before nap time.

Eddie's AWESOME mohawk! I love having a baby with hair!

And since Kai doesn't have much, we make her cover her head with whatever is handy. ;-)

Kai Kai getting ready for family prayer. So cute!

I pulled out my wedding dress and Emmy tried it on...it's a little big on her. ;-)

Sometimes Mommy shops too long at Dillons and Kai falls asleep at the wheel. *Not recommended in real cars* Lucky for her she avoided any major accidents! She drives better asleep than Mommy does awake!

Yummy popsicle (what made it into her mouth!) And check out those incredible shoes from Aunt Jordan! Kai hates to have them taken off!

My handsome Joe! What a cute kiddo!

Blessing Day

Today was Eddie's blessing at church. We had a lot of family come to see him blessed. There was my mom,

my brother Scott and his girlfriend Laura,
my sister Jordan, her husband Blake and thier daughter Rori.
Rob's mom and dad were also able to come.
My brother John also came, but somehow I forgot to get a picture of him... Oops!

If you're not familiar with what that is in the LDS church I'll explain really quick. In our church we do not believe in baptizing infants since we don't accept the doctrine of original sin. Instead we give each child a name and a blessing. Elder Dallin H. Oaks, an apostle in our church said, "In modern revelation, parents who are members of the Church are commanded to bring their children “before the church,” where the elders “are to lay their hands upon them in the name of Jesus Christ, and bless them in his name” (D&C 20:70). " One of the purposes is to record the baby on the records of the church and create a membership record for the baby. Another is to give the baby a blessing from Heavenly Father. In the blessing the priesthood holder (usually the father) pronounces that the name which the child has been given at birth is the name that it will be known by throughout it's life and into eternity. After that the baby is blessed with whatever the priesthood holder feels inspired by the Holy Spirit to say. It is a very beautiful and touching experience.
That is what we did with Eddie today and the blessing that Rob gave him was beautiful and full of great promises from our Heavenly Father to Eddie. In the circle was Rob, John B, Scott B., Ralph H. and Mike E. Apparently throughout the blessing Eddie was smiling and after it was over Rob held him up for everyone to see and Eddie had a big smile on his face!
I am so grateful that we have been blessed to have another of Heavenly Father's choice spirits in our family. He is such an incredible little boy and we love him so much! Each of our children is a blessing to our family and we know that they were specifically chosen to come to our family and we are so glad that we are their parents.
I am thankful that Rob is a worthy priesthood holder and that he is able to give our children blessings and use that priesthood power to bless our lives and the lives of those around us. I am thankful to him for giving me my 7 beautiful children and working so hard to provide for us. He is an incredible example to our children of love, patience and hard work. I could not ask for a better husband for me or father for our kiddos!
I am so thankful for the Gospel and the knowledge I have if it's truthfulness, and that through it we can have an eternal family. I am truly blessed in my life!
